You know when you have that itch to fix something that probably isn’t important and can definitely wait, but the urge to scratch it is so overwhelming you do it anyway?

I realised a few days ago I had issues where videos couldn’t play properly on the blogs. I did some googlefuing and found it was a weird pixel formatting issue that only occurs on Mac Catalina, and I’d have to re-encode all the videos with a ffmpeg simple flag.

This journal and the blog get precisely zero traffic, so whilst its annoying in reality its an insignificant task that can wait a while, right? In comes the fucking itch monster. I was so annoyed for ~2 days about this meaningless problem I’ve spent the last few hours entirely reencoding the videos on the blog.

What a waste of a saturday staring at this shit 🤦

I haven’t reencoded the videos on this daily journal yet, but having video files split across multiple projects really makes me want to building that custom media platform, but also there is something really nice about having all the assets included in the git repository like it is currently.
