Ankle is still butchered. Most of the day is lying down or crawling around like a child. I adopted the MMT techniques that I’d self discovered in Athens a year ago - essentially massage the misery spots until it goes away.

This is incredibly painful but the results are almost immediate.

Nami did amazing work getting us phone numbers again. Giggity šŸ¤™

I started building some contact forms for jamie-strauss.com which was awesome - I put in some state machines, fp-ts etc. I then tried messing around with netlify functions and had no fucking idea what I was doing. I must be a retard, but I just couldn’t comprehend their documentation.

I need to have these forms finished by this weekend.

Demo’d to HSI today. They really liked everything - they just want a particular login/registration flow changed. So good to wrap up this fucking project.

I started reading “Functional Programming Made Easier” today. It is a purescript book - I did this out of frustration trying to get a Haskell web framework to build on my machine - annoying as fuck nix issues. Its ~1900 pages and I’ve been through the first 100 or so.

I’m feeling really confident in this - the opening section I understand it completely - all the last 5 years of dabbling in FP and learning the ML combinators, the joys of point-free programming (eta-reduction šŸ¤™) etc has made it a great way to start. I love what I do, but I need to move on from OO and procedural programming - it’s starting to get very old now. I haven’t been this motivated in a long time.

I’m going to finish this book - dedicate a few hours a day to it. FP is the future, and I want to be ahead of this curve. It’s also inspired me to write a new blog post about “learning”.
