Good morning world!

Finally feel “right” again after the bullshit that was the feeling after smashing those bags on Thursday. I’m doing it so infrequently now and I enjoy it less and less. What is interesting though is that I only did it when I haven’t been able to work on the boat/boats for a few days.

Its obvious that being locked inside all day is doing my head in. The whole “being outside and being active” cliche is obviously real - it exists for a reason and I can confirm that the act of movement and sunlight is amazing.

I’m writing this at 8:40am. I’m finishing this off at 8:55am. I’ve had my coffee and coffee is good, so now its time for me to put some clothes on, but some sunnies on and then head out and enjoy the sun for a few minutes.

woo 🤘

What a fucking nightmare at work. My main client, Fusion, was pretty unhappy. I don’t blame them honestly - they’d set up an agreement where they get off shore seniors cheaper than the Australian price; except they guys they were given are, at the very best, smack in the middle. The owner is no fool and he sees through it and I think he’s been incredibly lenient with what he has allowed. It’s fucking annoying - every system these guys have ever built is a general webapp database thingy but now they are playing in the world of polymorphic runtime platforms. They don’t understand how complex the problem is, and they’ve absolutely hamstrung me from day 1 with being able to fix this shit.

Before we had a meeting with the client the CTO came and talked to me. I told him what the problem was and it was obvious that he didn’t believe me in the slightest; but he did play it nice and diplomatically. He came to the meeting and the owner said everything I did almost verbatim. I really like Adam and he has a cool head on his shoulders, but he needed to hear the reality from the client. I was saddled with the most retarded constraints of all time and a super junior team sold as experts; and instead am being forced to pick up their lies. I love Dave and what he’s done for me, but I’m starting to look elsewhere now. This is an impossible situation to resolve long term - you can’t like to clients about technical ability when the problem is actually genuinely technical - shit breaks, shit goes downhill etc.

For now I’m just going to power through multiple people-days of work for Fusion over the next month - I’m going to massively blow my budget but I don’t care. I need to get some mammoth deliverables out of the door in the next 4 weeks so at least the client is happy with the outcomes, then I can had off the project if I leave.
